Let my people think

"Jesus, if you are the one that gives life as meant to be, I want it. Please get me out of this hospital bed well, and I promise I will leave no stone unturned in my pursuit of truth."

This was the heartfelt prayer of Dr. Ravi Zacharias at the age of 17 from a suicidal bed after a local Christian member instructed his mother to read John 14 to him from the Bible. Yet it was John 14:19b that spoke volumes to his teenage heart. Nine years he later graduated at Ontario Bible College. He earned a Master's degree of Divinity from Trinity International University in Deerfield Illinois. Since then, he has been honoured with no less than six conferring doctoral degrees.

A champion of the Christian faith

Dr. Zacharias is the founder and president of Ravi Zacharias International Ministry (RZIM) established in August 1984. For more 44 years this gifted speaker travelled the world to challenge scholars and host conferences at universities. He has helped students to ponder over the deeper meaning and purpose of life, by explaining the existence of the Creator, the God whom Christians believe to stand behind all. This champion of the Christian faith has authored and edited over 20 books, addressed writers of the peace accord in South Africa, and reasoned with the military officers at the Lenin Military Academy and the centre for Geopolicatical Strategy in Moscow. He was also invited by the president of Nigeria to address delegates at the First Annual Prayer breakfast for African leaders held in Mozambique.

"Helping the thinker believe and also helping the believer think", is very much the substance and the core of Dr. Zacharias' on-going endeavour to see unbelievers come to a saving knowledge of Christ while challeging believers to think deeper about the nature and depth of their relationship with God.

Standing for the Truth in a confused world

Dr. Zacharias started classifying himself as an Apologetics preacher in 1983 after speaking at Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's annual evangelist conference. The word "Apologetic" is taken from the Greek word 'Apologia' as recorded in 1 Peter 3:15 where it is written, "always be prepared to give an Apologia to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have, but do this with gentleness and respect keeping a clear conscience." RZIM's vision is to build a team with a fivefold thrust comprising of evangelism, apologetics spiritual discplines, training and humanitarian support so that this mandate from 1 Peter 3:15 might be fullfilled.

Reaching the millennial generation

In a confused world with little regard for absolutes, Ravi Zacharias is a relentless defender of the Christian faith in his many debates with atheists around the world. His profound reasoning had brought many influential religious figures into confessing Christianity as being the true faith. He aims to challenge those who shape the ideas of culture with the credibilty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and this includes the next generation of believers.

"How do we reach the generation that listens with their eyes and thinks woth their feeling?" he ponders.

Dr. Zacharias' programme, 'Let My People Think', positively impacts the lives of countless TWR Africa listeners, especially the youth. His compelling discussions speak directly to the core questions that young Christians are asking about God, the Bible, and other religions.

"All doubts about my Christian faith have been diminished after I listened to Ravi Zacharias on DStv audio 855 'Let My People Think'. I am inspired by the series" writes one of TWR Africa's listeners. "All my friends question things about their existence, yet not many have found answers to those questions. But I have found them through these teachings."
