TWR Country Focus: South Africa
As you may have noticed in your own experience, letters that are short and sweet often communicate the most.
That’s the case with this simple but moving message from a listener in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal, which has a population of 11 million and is the home province of President Jacob Zuma. You can imagine how encouraged the programme producers and the rest of the broadcast staff felt when they read the writer’s thoughtful words.
On Wednesday, 20 April 2016, the Association of Christian Media (ACM) for Southern Africa honoured TWR Africa with a very special media award at their annual gala dinner and awards ceremony hosted in Cape Town.
The trophy is awarded to the member who have done the most to promote the family over the past year (2015).
With the adjudication, the judges were primarily interested in media that focused on family related issues and which emphasized biblically sound principles on nurturing and protecting families in Africa.
TWR Country Focus: Columbia
Lessons learned young often have the longest-lasting impact.
That was the case with Juliana (not her real name) in Colombia, who sent a letter to TWR to tell about her lifelong connection with the radio ministry.
“I want to thank you for all of your interesting studies,” her message began.
TWR Country Focus: Côte d’Ivoire
All TWR programs are Bible-based and spiritually focused, but some broadcasts also address social and physical concerns such as addiction, AIDS and the Ebola virus, and human trafficking.
A member of the Baoule tribe wrote to TWR’s response team to tell how his exposure to one of these programs pointed him to true answer to his drinking problem.
TWR Country Focus: Kenya
When a 27-year-old dispatcher in Nairobi, Kenya, was jobless and feeling worthless, the Word of God and his friends over the radio helped him keep going.
The young man wrote TWR’s response team a touching message of gratitude.
