TWR-Angola takes the Initiative

Posted in OLD The Archive

In a country rebuilding its economy after decades of civil war, TWR-Angola has set an example by raising funds locally to decrease dependence on international aid. TWR-Angola currently has several fundraising initiatives.

More than 200 people attended TWR-Angola's annual Radio Sunday service on the 19th of July, 2009 at the Apostolic Faith Mission in Luanda. This was the first time the Apostolic Faith Mission hosted a Radio Sunday service. Over 50 members of this church regularly listen to the Yeva Ondaka programme on TWR. The service was a testimony of how God is using TWR to touch hearts and lives through radio.

Kalumba Alfredo Coelho Rodrigues, TWR-Angola's National Director, shared about TWR's ministry in Angola and challenged the audience to join and support the radio ministry. Rodrigues' message on worshipping the Father in spirit and truth was based on John 4:23.

Radio Sunday services are just one of the ways in which TWR-Angola is raising funds to help cover their daily ministry needs. TWR-Angola has also established a Clube de Amigo da Radio (Radio Friends Club) in the churches that host Radio Sunday services. Funds raised through the services and clubs are used for administrative and studio needs as well as the production and airing of programmes.

Another outreach tool used in Angola is the devotional book Pao da Vida. It is produced by TWR-Brazil and sold to Angolan churches. It has been so well-received that church leaders regularly have to request more copies for their congregations.

Two volumes of the music CD TWR & Friends have also proven popular with listeners. Find out more about ordering these Portuguese CDs through the "contact us" section of our website.

Here is what some Angolan listeners have to say about TWR's programmes:
"I am being blessed through Yeva Ondaka. I've got a group of listeners, around 10 people. Some of them are not Christians."

"I thank God for Yeva Ondaka. I and my family are growing in the knowledge of the Word of God."

"We have no church in our village. All we have are TWR programmes, especially Yeva Ondaka. It is a fantastic programme. One friend of mine accepted Christ through this programme. Keep on working for the glory of our Lord."

"My radio is my helper in personal evangelism."

"Your programme is my daily bread."
